Sabbatical Day 9: Sin

13 years ago Pet Shop Boys song this song:

(Twenty seconds and counting...
T minus fifteen seconds, guidance is okay)
??
When I look back upon my life
It's always with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

At school they taught me how to be
So pure in thought and word and deed
They didn't quite succeed
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

Father, forgive me, I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf, then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me, I didn't believe it
Father, you fought me, 'cause I didn't care
And I still don't understand

So I look back upon my life
Forever with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to - it's a sin
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin

(Confiteor Deo omnipotenti vobis fratres, quia peccavi nimis cogitatione,
verbo, opere et omissione, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa)
[trans. "I confess to almighty god,
and to you my brothers,
that I have sinned exceedingly
in thought, word, act and omission,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault"]

(Zero!)

And it is a quite and precise song.

Sabbatical Day 8: Live @ MGM

Movies. Are they real? Are they a snapshot of the reality? Are they a caricature of the real world?

Site seeing at MGM could be a nice experience, a nice metaphor.

How movie works? How movie are built? Who is in the movies? Who is in charge?

Life is not a movie. But Life can be built as a movie. Depends who is the director and whose he chooses for act and what script he prioritizes. The story? It was already chosen by God.

By the way, God does not know anything about sequences, let's do it.

Sabbatical Day 7: Make a wish

It is always the same: We do not make real wishes.

I have been in Disney World, and in the end of the day: What matters? Wishes.

Title: Wishes (Fireworks Exit Music)
Artist: Disney

Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.

Ohh, a world of wishes,
A world where dreams come true.
So make a wish, see it through.
Dare to do what dreamers do.

CHORUS:
Wishes...
Dream a dream.
Wishes...
Set it free.
Wishes…
Trust your heart.
Just believe.

We’re all just children,
Reaching for our dreams.
They’re shining high above us,
And even though it seems so far (so far)
We put our faith and hope on a shooting star.

Ohh...

CHORUS:

Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.
We’ll make a wish and do as dreamers do.

And all our wishes, (All our wishes)

All our wishes,
Will come,
True…

Wishes, wishes

Sabbatical Day 6: Nasa

When I was 11 we used to send letters do NASA and receive folders and pictures back from then. They were one of my heroes.

During this time my dad took care of a 1.000 employees. He used the bring me to his work every day. I could watch him lead all employees. This was the best management school that anyone can have. Even Harvard could not achieve what a single but powerful man did for me.

Was during this time that I discovered that my dad was my hero.

Sabbatical Day 5: The Dark Side of the Force

Man, is amazing how the dark side is powerful.

I have the lucky to keep myself far from it. But (We always have a "but") I have smelt it once and a wile.

The fight between The Good and The Evil is the most explored theme by any author.

In other posts, I have written about wishes, desires etc and was clear for me that feelings powered by Evil purposes are much more stronger than others powered by Good.

Is amazing how movies like Constantine and the Star Wars Saga can translate this.

Sabbatical Day 4: L'ozio creativo

L'ozio creativo. Just a book from a Domenico De Masi or a Life style?

Today I tasted it all day long.

I prefer to see it as a Life Style, something  beyond a new framework for being.

Bizarre is how a book like that is not translated for English. Why? Maybe Americans, in general, do not have a open spirit for less competition less conspiracy more savvy than Italians do.

Am I wrong? Prove it.

Sabbatical Day 3: Back to training

Jez, how 2 weeks without training can make you sweat in 5 km run!

An old friend said:

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit."
Aristotle

Is incrediable how true is this phrase.

Today I am back on track, XTerra is coming.

Triathlon is like love, you have to practice a lot to be good on it.

Sometimes you forgot how important is to exercise your body and mind targeting something else besides mundane pleasures.

Love can be tough as an Ironman in Floripa. Can be cold, can be hot.

Can crash your heart, can crash your mind.

Be disciplined and organized in love and in triathlon can give you the best results, not being, can give you the worst ones.

You know the big answer for all that?

We do not want too much.

Sabbatical Day 2: Painting Ceramic

Picasso.

Huge painter, crazy man. Dad or dead?  Maybe Dad dead.

I have been in a nice place in Las Olas Blvd (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) to spend an afternoon: Joe Picasso's

Joe Picasso's defined by themselves:

Joe Picasso's is an Interactive Studio and Café where you can choose to paint your own pottery, make a mosaic, or if you are feeling adventurous you can jump on the pottery wheel and throw a pot!

I was there and painted a ceramic plate.

A friend influenced me to start painting. But too much faena didin't allow me start, until today.

My first masterpiece ;-) was a ceramic plate.

For me, painting looked like an teamwork project. The main difference is I did not know how to lead or to speak and feel the team members yet.

Ink is flexible, open minded but is difficult to predict her reaction.

The paint brush, has attitude but does not talk a lot. Is difficult to know what is passing by his head.

The piece listen to you, but lead her is like lead a wild horse.

Building up a piece is like raising a child. Can be seen as you interacting with a friend, an employee, a team member and both getting more mature after that.

A piece has at least two lives. Blockbuster when is growing up. The second, virotic, continuous, still intensive, but with different modus operandi.

Paint is a attitude against the established world. Is a old way to create new paths. Paths that brings life and death to paradigms. This tool can be used to engineer or philosophize a new world. A world that you want. A world that you desire.

A piece is always a masterpiece. Ask her if is she special?! She can answer no, but deep inside, freeing the ego of the afraid of use his potential and fail,  the answer will be a loudly: YES, OF COURSE I AM A MASTERPIECE, AREN'T YOU TOO?

Sabático?

Marco S. Júnior diz:

O que é período sabático?

Augusto Camargo diz:

Sabbatical Day 1: High School Enrollment

Man, Man, Man...

I was hanging out with a friend while he was doing the enrollment process of his daughter in high school.

Man, I stayed in the high school office for almost two and half hours. During theses 150 minutes, I watched a movie. A movie that sold a lot. A movie that shows how is the life of a teenager in high school.

Hollywood directors of teen movies have no wisdom. They only reproduce reality. But they lack to show us the essence, the spirit that you can feel in places like that.

You can see The-fresh-graduate-guy looking for new opportunities to win the world using the negotiator-taking-advantage-everytime he learned from daddy and practiced in school exercises and exams.

You can see The Not-so-thin-boy kicking his own face when he opens the door.

The Future-Cheerleaders-of-Miami-Dolphins hanging together, man they are more pretty at this age!!!

You can see The-Small-Little-guy who may be the next big scientist or big business man or the good next door daddy ;-)

In a golf car you can see a couple of men who for sure broke many hearts, of girls, and boys, making their lives tougher or easier.

Teaching in high school is a seamless experience. I once taught for a small group of students a discipline of projects. It is difficult to explain how their their eyes shine.

You can see hope. You can see energy. You can see hunger. You can see power. You can see fear. You can see depression. You can see the need of love. You can see the need of hope. You can see life.

High school is one of the most transforming environments someone can experiment. There are so many forces, so many different reagents, so many interactions. You have pressure, you have high and low temperatures. You have catalyst effects. You have equilibrium. You have products.

It is difficult to know where great men are formed. But I can guess that part of them are built in high school.
